Finland’s TTS Liftec Oy, Tammerfors, part of Sweden’s TTS Ships Equipment AB, Gothenburg, has won an order from one’s of its oldest clients, Finland’s Transfennica Ltd, Helsinki, for a large number ro-ro cassettes to be delivered by the end of early Spring this year (2005). Liftec Products started in 1991 and was purchased by TTS Ships Equipment AB, part of Norway’s TTS Marine ASA, during December last year (2004).The cassette system is devised to make loading and unloading of containers and other unitised cargoes that much easier and quicker when the ro-ro ship is in port. TTS Ships Equipment also use the cassette system alongside it’s Automatic Guidance Vehicle (AGV) system, designed to load/unload a ro-ro ship by a complete un-manned operation.
TTS Liftec Products port folio includes systems for container and cargo cassette handling, the majority of which have been so far been sold to European ports and harbours. The company also has extensive service and after-sales capabilities. Transfennica is one of TTS Liftec’s major customers, Liftec supplying the first cassettes back in 1994.
Transfennica is an European shipping company and a pioneer in cassette-handling. Their advanced multi-purpose ro-ro vessels allow weekly turnarounds between the biggest European ports and Finland.
