Container terminal systems specialist TTS Port Equipment AB has established a strategic partnership with drive and control technology specialist Danaher Motion in order to jointly develop and market the Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) concept.

The AGV performs a significant role in TTS’ programme to improve the efficiency of Lo/Lo and Ro/Ro operations at ports worldwide, and also in other outdoor heavy process and industrial material handling fields.
Central to this cooperative venture is the NDC8 control platform, to be used by both companies in their AGV solutions. AGVs with NDC8 technology are particularly easy to manage, maintain, reconfigure and expand, while reducing total cost of ownership.
The NDC8 control platform excels in its extensive programming options, flexibility and high degree of user-friendliness. It is suitable for all vehicle types and areas of application and facilitates a problem-free combination of automatic guidance and navigation processes, including laser, spot magnet and pilot line guidance.
The development, coordination and administration of transport routes for all AGVs is simplified by means of a Layout Engineering Tool for rapid achievement of optimum transport flow. The NDC8 platform also provides a Traffic Manager that uses runtime decisions to prevent collisions. The Soft PLC programming complies with IEC standard 61131-3 and a complete set of software tools for carrying out design, operational and service tasks is supplied.
TTS Port Equipment AB MD, Lennart Svensson, says: “By working with Danaher Motion to adapt traditional AGV industry technology to our needs we can offer our customers significant efficiency gains in the operation of container terminals. This project will see TTS providing customers with a solution that will improve the cost-efficiency of container port logistics by providing capacity and system reliability improvements”.
TTS Port Equipment AB selected Danaher Motion as its partner for this project based on its proven AGV technology and ability to provide technical expertise and support in all of TTS’ key markets worldwide.
